Waterfront Moving Drama: Uncovering Riverfront Relocation Nightmares

Long Island City’s waterfront parks will host this summer’s INSITU Site-Specific Dance Festival, taking place August 4–5 from 1–8 p.m. each day. Free and open to the public, the festival presents 20 newly commissioned works by a curated group of national and international choreographers, including Douglas Dunn, Alice Gosti, Chantal Caron of Fleuve Espace Danse, and Sarah Elgart of Angry Elbow.

Performances will run concurrently on four stages each day at Hunters Point South Park, Gantry Plaza State Park, Queensbridge Park, and Socrates Sculpture Park. In addition to the site-specific performances, the festival includes a Community Dance Workshop hosted this year by Jacob A. Riis Neighborhood Settlement. The workshop runs across four weeks in June and will culminate in a performance during the August festival.
