Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. is set to expand its presence in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, with three new properties opening in 2015. The additions — under the Westin, Sheraton and Four Points by Sheraton brands — will add a total of 1,496 guestrooms and suites to the city’s lodging options.
The Westin Makkah will offer 513 guestrooms and suites, complemented by two restaurants, a lounge, a fitness center and more than 2,500 square feet of flexible meeting and event space. Designed to serve both leisure and business travelers, the property will emphasize comfort and contemporary amenities consistent with the Westin brand.
The Sheraton Makkah will feature 532 guestrooms and suites along with a fitness center, five dining outlets, a lounge and over 2,000 square feet of meeting and event space. With multiple dining options and dedicated event facilities, the Sheraton aims to accommodate larger groups and pilgrims visiting the holy city.
The Four Points by Sheraton Makkah will comprise 451 guestrooms and suites, a restaurant, a business center and more than 1,000 square feet of meeting and event space. This property will focus on practical comfort and straightforward service, making it suitable for budget-conscious travelers and business guests alike.
These openings will increase Starwood’s footprint in Saudi Arabia to a notable level. The company already operates 10 properties across the kingdom, making Saudi Arabia its second-largest market in the Middle East after the United Arab Emirates. The new hotels in Makkah are intended to meet growing demand from pilgrims and other visitors, offering a range of brand choices and facilities tailored to different traveler needs.
