Montana’s Triple Creek Ranch invites adventurous women to embrace cowgirl culture and channel their inner Annie Oakley with two signature events this year in the Bitterroot Range of the Rocky Mountains. Both women-only programs—the Women’s Rocky Mountain Rendezvous and Klicks for Chicks—highlight horseback riding on some of the region’s most scenic trails and combine outdoor adventure with upscale ranch hospitality.
Owned and hosted by Barbara Barrett—a trained U.S. astronaut, former ambassador to Finland and avid horsewoman—Triple Creek Ranch blends rugged experiences with luxury. After days spent riding, working cattle, practicing archery or trying trap shooting, guests return to the adults-only ranch for elegant group dinners prepared by Chef Jacob Leatherman and wines curated by Sommelier Jeremy White from a cellar recognized with multiple Wine Spectator awards.
Women’s Rocky Mountain Rendezvous (May 7–12)
The Women’s Rocky Mountain Rendezvous, scheduled for May 7–12, focuses on immersive outdoor activities and shared camaraderie. Highlights include guided horseback rides across alpine terrain, fly-fishing in pristine streams, scenic hikes that can lead to natural hot springs, and trailside gourmet picnics. The itinerary often features a gemstone jewelry trunk show and other curated experiences designed to combine adventure with relaxation.
Klicks for Chicks (Oct. 13–18)
Klicks for Chicks is the annual all-women ride, held this year Oct. 13–18, and benefits the nonprofit Summit for Parkinson’s. Each day, riders traverse mountain passes, skirt crystal-clear lakes and cross wildflower meadows before returning to the ranch in the late afternoon for cocktails, gourmet meals and comfortable cabins. As part of the fundraiser, Triple Creek Ranch donates $1 for every “klick” (kilometer) a participant rides during the event to Summit for Parkinson’s.
Accommodations and Inclusions
Cabins for both experiences start at $950 per night. Rates include luxurious accommodations in private cabins, daily snacks, breakfast, lunch and gourmet dinners, house wines and spirits, and all featured on-ranch activities. The adults-only property emphasizes personalized service, spacious common areas and restful evenings after active days in the mountains.
Who Should Attend
These events are ideal for women who enjoy outdoor pursuits—from experienced riders to those looking to try horseback riding for the first time—while also appreciating refined dining and comfortable lodgings. The programs foster a sense of community among participants and offer both instruction and guided excursions, making them suitable for a range of skill levels.
Whether seeking an adrenaline-filled retreat on scenic trails or a restorative escape with fellow women who love the outdoors, Triple Creek Ranch’s women-only programs offer a distinctive combination of Montana wilderness, ranch tradition and upscale hospitality.
