Lake Havasu City, Arizona is a top destination this fall. Nestled on the Colorado River, south of Las Vegas, the city draws visitors for seasonal events that range from high-speed water competitions to thrilling aerobatic shows. While boating might not be the first activity that comes to mind in a desert setting, through Oct. 7 the International Jet Sports Boating Association takes over Crazy Horse Campgrounds for the 2018 IJSBA Blowsion World Finals. More than 750 performance watercraft from around the globe compete, showcasing advanced engineering and spectacular skill across multiple racing and freestyle events.

From Oct. 17–21, the Relics & Rods Car Club’s 41st Annual Run to the Sun Car Show takes place at Bridgewater Links at London Bridge Resort. One of the largest car shows in the Southwest, the event showcases vehicles from across the country, all from 1972 or earlier. Attendees can enjoy Cruise Night, a Show & Shine exhibit, a fashion show, a dinner dance, pancake breakfast and a parade — activities that celebrate vintage automotive culture and community spirit.
On Oct. 27 the Hangar 24 AirFest & 2nd Anniversary arrives at Lake Havasu City Airport. This aerobatic air show and beer festival features aerial performances, historic aircraft displays and related attractions. Visitors have the opportunity to tour a B-17 Flying Fortress and, for a limited number, take short flights over Lake Havasu City. The B-17 is notable as one of only eight still flying out of the 12,731 originally built. The airfest will also include vintage bi-planes and military aircraft, with an A-10 Warthog scheduled to attend from Tucson’s Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, offering a rare close-up for aviation enthusiasts.
Beyond marquee events, Lake Havasu City offers outdoor recreation year-round. The Colorado River and surrounding lakes invite boating, fishing and paddle sports, while desert trails provide hiking and off-road opportunities. Fall’s milder temperatures make it an ideal season to explore the area’s scenic contrasts — water-based activities alongside rugged desert landscapes — and to take part in festivals that spotlight motorsports, aviation and community traditions.
Whether you’re a fan of high-speed jet-ski action, classic cars, or historic aircraft, Lake Havasu City’s fall calendar delivers a mix of spectacles and family-friendly gatherings. Plan ahead for event schedules, ticket availability and lodging, since popular weekends often draw large crowds. With a blend of competitive events, exhibitions and casual outdoor fun, Lake Havasu City remains a vibrant fall destination on the river.
