Delta Air Lines is rolling out updates to its SkyMiles program designed to make award travel more flexible and to provide additional ways to earn Medallion status.
One of the headline changes is the introduction of lower-priced one-way award tickets, with fares starting at 10,000 miles plus taxes and fees for travel in select U.S., Mexico and Caribbean markets (available through Dec. 31). Beyond the introductory one-way awards, the program enhancements include:
- An expanded list of airline partners whose inventory SkyMiles members can search and redeem for award travel directly on delta.com, simplifying the booking experience.
- The ability to earn Medallion Qualification Dollars (MQDs) when flying many of Delta’s partner airlines, regardless of which carrier issued the ticket—making progress toward elite status easier to track and achieve.
- A retroactive application of MQDs for eligible partner flights, with qualifying activity counted back to Jan. 1, 2015.
These changes aim to give SkyMiles members greater flexibility when booking award travel and more consistent crediting for partner flights, helping frequent flyers earn and retain Medallion benefits more predictably.
