Waldorf Astoria Atlanta Buckhead Review: Luxury Hotel Experience & Tips

ARRIVAL/CHECK-IN: I arrived in Atlanta from Sarasota, Florida, with publisher and CEO Francis X. Gallagher to meet clients and spend a couple of nights at the Waldorf Astoria Atlanta Buckhead. Even though we checked in before noon, the staff was ready and attentive. The check-in was effortless, so I stepped away from the lobby to take a few photos for social media and returned to collect my luggage before taking the elevator to the eighth floor.

GUEST QUARTERS: The room was tasteful and elegant, extremely spacious, and offered two different window views of Atlanta. A king-sized bed filled the space, flanked by end tables and vertical mirrors. The décor—shades of gray, white, and deep mahogany—felt crisp and professional, with a slightly whimsical detail above the headboard. The room included a sleek chaise lounge, two chairs, an oval meeting table and a flat-screen TV, creating a comfortable mix of relaxation and workspace.

The hallway held two full-sized closets and a separate minibar area stocked with coffee and snacks. The five-piece bathroom was clean and classic in black-and-white tones and generously sized—ideal for a business stay. Dual sinks, a water closet, a shower and a tub provided convenience and comfort. Bathroom amenities included Tuscan Soul body cream from Salvatore Ferragamo and shampoo, conditioner and body wash from Gilchrist & Soames.

A small box of JARDi designer chocolates awaited in the room, a thoughtful touch from the hotel that felt like Southern hospitality wrapped in a blue bow. I sampled a few that evening and brought the remainder home.

SERVICES/AMENITIES: During my stay I dined at Brassica Restaurant inside the hotel for both breakfast and lunch. For breakfast I chose egg whites with spinach, avocado and salmon; for lunch I enjoyed French onion soup and a beet and duck confit salad on a bed of quinoa. The restaurant staff were warm and engaging—remembering my name and chatting casually—small touches that make a hotel memorable and worth returning to.

Even in February the hotel’s English Garden, located in a courtyard just outside the restaurant, provided a pleasant, green respite from the city. The Waldorf Astoria property also features a spa and a large fitness center for guests seeking pampering or stress relief.
