Oregon Wines Now Fly Free on Alaska Airlines

Exploring Oregon wine country often means leaving with a few bottles to enjoy later or share with friends — but shipping wine can be expensive. Fortunately, a new promotion makes bringing Oregon wines home easier and more affordable: Oregon Wines Fly Free.

Beginning Sept. 10, Alaska Airlines will allow passengers to check up to one case of Oregon wine free of charge. The offer applies to domestic Alaska Airlines travelers flying out of four Oregon airports — Portland (PDX), Eugene (EUG), Medford (MFR) and Redmond (RDM) — and one regional airport in nearby Walla Walla, Washington (ALW). The promotion runs through Nov. 20.

In addition to the complimentary checked case, travelers who show their Alaska Airlines boarding pass within a week of arriving in Oregon can receive free tastings at more than 180 participating Oregon wineries. This pairing of waived baggage fees and winery tastings is designed to encourage visitors to enjoy Oregon’s wine regions and bring a taste of the state back home without extra cost.

Oregon Wines Fly Free is the result of a partnership between Alaska Airlines, the Oregon Wine Board and Travel Oregon, created to promote Oregon’s wine industry and make travel more convenient for wine enthusiasts.
