The Westin brand has reached a milestone with its 200th property, The Westin Chongqing Liberation Square in China. The brand continues to expand in China with three more openings planned: The Westin Zhujiajian Resort in Zhoushan, The Westin Blue Bay Resort in Qingshui Bay, Hainan, and The Westin Haikou in Hainan.
Overall, Westin expects nine new hotels to open worldwide in 2014, and anticipates an additional 30 properties by 2016. The Asia Pacific region—Westin’s fastest-growing market—will account for roughly half of this expansion. By the end of the year, Westin’s China portfolio will exceed 20 hotels, and the brand plans to add 11 more properties in the country over the next three years, representing nearly a 50 percent increase in its Chinese footprint.
Growth plans extend beyond China. In India, The Westin Delhi NCR Noida is scheduled to open next year, and the brand aims to grow its Indian portfolio by about 50 percent within three years. Indonesia will also see two new Westin properties in the coming two years: The Westin Ubud Resort & Spa in Bali and The Westin Jakarta.
Westin’s expansion strategy includes markets across the Middle East, North America and Latin America as well. New properties are planned for Saudi Arabia, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates, as well as U.S. cities such as Austin and Denver. In Latin America, Westin is pursuing openings in Peru, Panama and Costa Rica.
