Sleep Among Wolves: New Norwegian Lodge Offers Overnight Stays

Spend a night among wolves while searching for the Northern Lights at the newly opened Wolf Lodge in Narvik, Norway, a growing Arctic tourism destination. The lodge offers a rare opportunity to observe wolves in their natural environment as part of the “Night with the Wolves” program by Off The Map Travel.

Located inside an enclosure at Polar Park—the world’s northernmost wildlife park—the cozy lodge separates guests from animals with sturdy wooden walls and large viewing windows. Daytime, supervised encounters are available and led by an experienced wolf guide, allowing close but controlled, face-to-face observation. Polar Park sits in Salangsdalen Valley, roughly 45 miles from the town of Narvik, and is home to a wide range of native Arctic species such as wolverine, Arctic fox, bear, lynx, reindeer and wolves.

Designed in a Scandinavian pine style inspired by modern Norwegian farmhouses, the rustic Wolf Lodge accommodates up to 10 guests. The lodge features an open-plan living area with a fully equipped kitchen and a hand-crafted dining table, plus a living room with expansive windows overlooking the wolf enclosure. Sleeping quarters include five guestrooms and a shared bathroom on the lower level.

Beyond the Arctic wolf experience, guests can hunt for the Aurora Borealis from the warmth of the Wolf Lodge or join the new Lights at the Lodge gondola excursion. The gondola transports visitors to a two-level mountaintop lodge where they can stay indoors with refreshments while watching for the Northern Lights, or step outside onto one of three viewing platforms for unobstructed sky viewing.

The four-day, three-night Night with the Wolves itinerary starts from $3,150 per person, based on four travelers and excluding flights. The program includes all ground transfers, one night at the Wolf Lodge with dinner and a guide, a close guided wolf encounter, two nights’ accommodation at a 4-star hotel with daily breakfast, a Northern Lights lookout from the hotel’s sky bar, a fjord boat trip to seek marine and shore wildlife, and the Lights at the Lodge Aurora hunt at Narvikfjellet (Narvik Mountain) with a guide.
