Northern Lights & Romantic Evenings: Themed Tour Highlights

Off the Map Travel is preparing for another season of dazzling skies with its Original Grand Aurora Tour. Early sightings in August and September suggest this winter could offer strong Northern Lights displays, though experienced aurora chasers will warn that the phenomenon remains unpredictable. The tour focuses on the Auroral Oval — the ring-shaped zone around the magnetic North Pole where the most frequent and dramatic displays occur — covering prime locations across Iceland, Sweden, Norway and Finland. Travelers may choose between small-group expeditions, independent itineraries or private-guide options depending on their preferences.

The Original Grand Aurora Tour spans 10 days and visits standout viewing areas in Norway, Sweden and Finland. Led by an expert guide, the itinerary combines aurora-focused activities with regional experiences: reindeer sledding, a Northern Lights dinner cruise, an evening dedicated to aurora photography, an exclusive dinner trip up to the Aurora Sky Station, a dogsledding expedition and a visit to Sweden’s ICEHOTEL. The program also includes a snowmobile excursion at a three-border point in Finland, a Northern Lights sled tour pulled by a snowmobile, a reindeer-and-culture outing and a guided city walk in Tromsø, Norway.

Accommodations are provided throughout the trip, with some meals included. Travel days are paced with stops at traditional Scandinavian cafes, giving guests a chance to relax and sample local coffee culture. The tour price starts at £5,999 (approximately $9,220) per person based on double occupancy; flights are not included.

This tour aims to balance organized aurora-hunting opportunities with authentic Nordic experiences, offering multiple ways to see the lights while also immersing travelers in local culture and outdoor activities. Photographers, nature enthusiasts and anyone seeking a curated Northern Lights adventure will find the itinerary rich with both viewing chances and memorable daytime pursuits.
