Iberia Launches New U.S. Route and Reveals Next-Gen Aircraft

Iberia will introduce its most advanced aircraft in June.

The long-haul fleet is being upgraded with the Airbus A350, which delivers roughly 30% better fuel efficiency and quieter operation. The A350 features high-speed WiFi, an upgraded in-flight entertainment system, increased carry-on space and an enhanced air circulation system for improved cabin comfort. Business-class passengers will find larger touchscreens, wider seats and more storage for personal items. Iberia will be the launch customer for this improved version of the A350-900.

For short- and medium-haul routes, Iberia is adding new Airbus A320neo aircraft. These jets use quieter, more fuel-efficient engines, reducing noise and emissions while lowering operating costs.

These new aircraft support Iberia’s route expansion and service improvements. This year the airline will begin non-stop service from Madrid (MAD) to San Francisco (SFO) and to Managua (MGA). The Madrid–San Francisco service will operate seasonally from April 25 through September 28, with departures on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
