Southwest Launches New Nonstop Service Between San Diego and Los Cabos

Southwest Airlines has announced a new nonstop route connecting San Jose del Cabo (SJD) and San Diego (SAN).

The carrier plans to begin service on April 25, pending necessary government approvals. Flights will operate between San Diego International Airport and Los Cabos, joining Alaska Airlines and Spirit Airlines as carriers serving the San Diego–Los Cabos market.

Southwest already operates nonstop flights to Mexico from Los Angeles (LAX), San Francisco (SFO) and Orange County (SNA). The new San Diego–Los Cabos route becomes the airline’s fourth nonstop connection to Mexico from California. Oakland (OAK) recently added nonstop service to Los Cabos this month as well.

With the addition of the San Diego–Los Cabos route, Southwest will serve 31 destinations from San Diego, further expanding its presence at San Diego International Airport.

Southwest has also expanded domestic service from San Diego with new routes to Salt Lake City (SLC), Spokane (GEG), Newark (EWR) and Indianapolis (IND), reinforcing its commitment to the region.

“Cabo and the five new domestic destinations we announced earlier this month from San Diego further solidify our mission to be the ‘Mission City’s’ hometown carrier,” said Leah Koontz, vice president controller, Southwest.
