Arrival/Check-in: I arrived at The Ritz-Carlton, Los Angeles on a bright Southern California day — a welcome change from the humid conditions I left on the East Coast. Valet attendants immediately helped with my luggage and escorted me into the elegant yet intimate lobby. Staff greeted me warmly and the check-in process was swift and efficient.
Guest Quarters: My room on the 22nd floor offered an impressive view of the downtown skyline. From that height I could even spot the Hollywood sign, a nice surprise pointed out by the bellman. The layout and furnishings suited a business traveler: a glass-topped desk with a comfortable leather chair faced the window, and convenient outlets were within easy reach. A sofa placed in front of the large flat-screen TV made a comfortable reading or relaxation spot. The bed was plush and hypoallergenic, layered with high-quality linens and a selection of pillows.
The bathroom was a standout, divided into three distinct areas. The double-sink vanity included a discreet television embedded in the mirror, which blended seamlessly into the glass when not in use. The shower offered both a fixed rain-style head and a removable handheld option. A deep soaking tub sat beside a calming blue-glass partition that separated the bathroom from the living area, creating a serene bathing environment.
One minor hiccup involved the in-room coffeemaker, which required a brief call to the front desk for setup assistance. Otherwise, room amenities were comprehensive and thoughtfully arranged for convenience.
Services/Amenities: The hotel’s 3,400-square-foot Club Lounge provides sweeping city views and a selection of light morning offerings, including pastries, muffins, bagels and croissants. The 8,000-square-foot spa contrasts the hotel’s classic décor with modern Hollywood-inspired design, featuring white walls and chrome accents. On the top floor, a 24-hour fitness center and outdoor pool area deliver more panoramic views, poolside cabanas and a bar for refreshments.
One floor below is WP24 Restaurant & Lounge, the property’s contemporary dining venue from celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck. Although I did not dine there during this stay, the restaurant’s sleek, stylish setting was clearly designed for an elevated experience.
The Experience: The Ritz-Carlton, Los Angeles offers an inviting introduction to the city. Located in a recently revitalized district near the L.A. Live entertainment and sports complex, the hotel benefits from a lively atmosphere and convenient access to major events. With just 123 guestrooms, the property feels almost boutique in scale, allowing staff to deliver personalized and attentive service. Team members were enthusiastic and genuinely welcoming, which set a positive tone throughout the visit.
