A traveler at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo International Airport who accidentally ended up on the baggage carousel was fined 1,500 rubles (about $24).
The incident occurred last month after the passenger disembarked from a flight from Belgrade, Serbia. While waiting to collect her luggage, she spotted a pet carrier containing her dog and reached to retrieve it. According to a transport police spokesman quoted by the Moskva news agency, she lost her balance, fell onto the moving conveyor belt and was carried into the luggage sorting area.
Airport staff responded to the situation and escorted the woman out of the baggage handling zone. Authorities determined that her fall had damaged part of the airport’s freight transportation system. Under the applicable regulation, the infraction carries a maximum administrative fine of 1,500 rubles.
