ARRIVAL/CHECK-IN: I traveled to New York City for the 10th anniversary of Global Traveler’s Leisure Lifestyle Awards and the fifth anniversary of WhereverFamily’s Wherever Awards at The Lotos Club. WestHouse Hotel New York was my home away from home during my one-night stay.
I arrived soon after check-in and was immediately struck by the Art Deco-inspired design in the lobby: black and gold accents, sparkling chandeliers and marble columns set a polished tone. The front desk attendant completed my check-in efficiently and explained key details, including that the exterior doors lock after midnight and the key card is required for elevator access to guest floors. That advance notice was helpful since I returned late from the evening event.
GUEST QUARTERS: My luxury queen guestroom felt surprisingly roomy for Manhattan. The décor favored neutral shades—gray, white, cream and dark brown—and the room was furnished with two nightstands, a plush chair, a dresser, an LED television and a large desk with an ergonomic chair, making it comfortable for both work and relaxation.
The bathroom continued the room’s refined palette, with gray marble shower tile that looked especially chic. A small opening in the glass beside the showerhead allowed the water to be turned on from outside the shower, which I found convenient for testing temperature before stepping in.
Bedding was comfortable—the mattress, sheets and pillows made for a restful night. The room was also quiet; I didn’t notice street noise while I slept, which made the short stay feel more restorative.

SERVICES/AMENITIES: My stay was under 24 hours, so I didn’t sample every hotel amenity, but I did visit the 23rd-floor terrace on the morning of departure. The terrace serves complimentary breakfast and, on a sunny morning, it was a pleasant spot to enjoy coffee and orange juice outdoors. In the evenings the terrace offers complimentary tapas, beer, wine, Champagne and dessert from 5–8 p.m., creating a relaxed pre- or post-event gathering space.
The hotel also features a 24-hour fitness center on the third floor with free audio workouts, plus business center services and complimentary WiFi for guests.
TOP TAKEAWAYS:
Be sure to visit the terrace for breakfast or afternoon tapas and to take in the city views.
The hotel sits within easy walking distance of major Manhattan attractions such as Carnegie Hall, The Museum of Modern Art and Central Park, making it a convenient base for sightseeing.
WestHouse Hotel offers a Special Resident program for guests traveling with pets. The package includes a pet bed and bowl, and dog-walking services can be arranged through the hotel’s pet concierge.
