Virgin Atlantic Upper Class: Luxury Business-Class Experience

On the Ground: After nearly fifty years of flying, airports have become a source of frustration for me. Security checks are essential, and even with access to fast lanes they can be time-consuming. Virgin Atlantic Airways has streamlined the process with a dedicated check-in area, which helps speed things along. On this trip I arrived on foot rather than using airline transport, and within minutes I passed through security and headed to the lounge.

Pre-Flight: Virgin’s lounges stand out. The Clubhouse, in my experience, is among the best I’ve visited. Shortly after taking a seat I was offered a drink; it was morning, so I chose tomato juice and a light breakfast, both of which were excellent. The lounge provided a good selection of magazines and newspapers and had a calm, comfortable atmosphere. I didn’t use all the amenities available, but regular travelers should consider experiencing the Virgin Clubhouse at least once.

In-Flight: Upper Class passengers board through a separate entrance, avoiding long queues. Flight attendants greeted me warmly and guided me to my seat, explaining the various controls. Although the seat accommodated my 6-foot-6 frame, I found the herringbone layout a bit restrictive. I do not drink alcohol, and the cabin crew were attentive, providing sparkling water throughout the flight. The food and service were both excellent. I didn’t use the in-flight entertainment, preferring to work and read in peace.

TOP TAKEAWAYS:
◆ After a stressful trip through London traffic, the Clubhouse provides a welcome retreat—worth choosing Virgin for that experience alone.
◆ Cheerful, attentive service combined with strong safety standards.
