United Airlines Debuts Its New Longest Nonstop Route

United Airlines has launched a year‑round daily route between Sydney (SYD) and Houston (IAH). Covering roughly 8,593 miles, this service is now the longest nonstop flight to and from Sydney. Scheduled block times are about 17 hours and 50 minutes westbound from Houston and about 15 hours and 40 minutes on the eastbound return to Houston.

“United is the largest U.S. carrier offering the most seats between Sydney and the United States, and we look forward to continuing to serve as Sydney’s airline of choice,” said Patrick Quayle, United’s president of international network. He noted that the new Houston service gives passengers direct access to a major U.S. business hub and convenient connections to hundreds of destinations, including Miami, Chicago, Boston, New York, Washington, D.C., Mexico City, and Cancun.

In addition to Houston, United already operates nonstop flights to Sydney from Los Angeles (LAX) and San Francisco (SFO), expanding options for travellers between Australia and the United States.

“United Airlines’ new service will not only help drive tourism and trade, but will create new pathways to the U.S., Canada and Central and South America,” said Geoff Culbert, CEO of Sydney Airport. He emphasized that the United States is Sydney’s third-largest source of international visitors and that the route will unlock further connections across the country.
