From Jan. 28–Feb. 4, 2018, the Swiss city of Lausanne will host the 46th International Ballet Competition, the Prix de Lausanne. Talented young dancers aged 14–19 travel from around the world to this lakeside city to compete for scholarships and opportunities that can jump-start their professional careers. Qualifying rounds and finals are held on the main stage, in the foyer and in studios one and two at Béjart Ballet Lausanne, located on Chemin du Presbytère.
In nearby Nyon, the Winter Festival (Festival Les Hivernales) runs Feb. 22–25, 2018. This four-day music festival presents an immersive program of more than 30 Swiss and international pop, rock and electronic acts, featuring performers such as Girls in Hawaii, Cold Bath, Lynn Maring, Sniper and Colour of Rice. Concerts take place across nine venues around town, seven of which offer free admission. Notable locations include Fisherman’s Pub, Salle Communale, Villa Thomas and La Plage. To make attending easier, the festival provides dedicated public transportation between venues and the city center.
