On April 18, Domaine de la Baume in the picturesque Provençal village of Tourtour reopens for its second season. Set in an 18th-century villa that was once the home of artist Bernard Buffet, the property has been thoughtfully transformed into a 22-room hotel framed by formal gardens and an olive grove. Within the estate’s 99 acres are wooded areas and waterfalls, creating an ideal backdrop for a spa located in a wooden cabin tucked among the trees and beside the sound of flowing water.
Interior design by Jocelyne Sibuet highlights local antiques, bespoke furnishings and Braquenie fabrics, evoking the refined motifs of 18th-century Provence while maintaining contemporary comfort. The hotel’s culinary program is led by Chef Francois Martin, who crafts a changing daily menu based on fresh ingredients from nearby producers. Standout dishes include roast fillet of dorado with grilled vegetables and sauce vierge, and locally raised lamb served with purple basil pesto and pommes bouchons finished with a drizzle of olive oil.
Known as “the village in the sky of Provence,” Tourtour sits roughly a 90-minute drive from Cannes, offering guests a serene retreat within easy reach of the Riviera. Domaine de la Baume is a member of the Maisons & Hotels Sibuet collection, a group of boutique properties celebrated for their regional character and attentive service.
