ARRIVAL/CHECK-IN: My colleague and I stayed at SLS Brickell Miami last fall, a stylish hotel in the Brickell neighborhood surrounded by cafés and restaurants. The building’s colorful architecture caught our eye as we arrived; valet service and a welcoming bellman made check-in smooth and efficient. The front desk staff were attentive and provided helpful information about the property and nearby attractions. We were pleased to discover the hotel is only about a 10-minute walk from Brickell City Centre, one of our favorite shopping destinations in Miami.
GUEST QUARTERS: Stepping out of the elevator, black-and-white striped walls led down the corridor to my Premier King room. The space felt sleek and sophisticated with patterned carpeting and carefully positioned lighting that highlighted the minibar area. Designed by Philippe Starck, the room combined a minimalist, slightly playful palette of pink, black and white with mirrors and curated artwork. The bed was centered in the room, and a desk area at the rear included an espresso machine. A minibar sat near the door to a large balcony with views of the Brickell skyline.

SERVICES AND AMENITIES: The SLS Altitude Pool deck is a standout feature—a chic urban oasis with two infinity pools, a well-stocked bar, comfortable chaise lounges and shaded cabanas. Large planters and shrubs frame the pool deck and are dotted among the lounges, creating a lush atmosphere for relaxing and soaking up city views. During my visit, a large rubber duck sculpture on the rooftop was being decorated by an artist for Art Basel, a lively touch that reflected Miami’s arts scene.
On-site dining at Fi’lia offers breakfast, lunch, dinner and weekend brunches often accompanied by live DJs. The menu focuses on wood-fired and grilled dishes, handmade pizzas and fresh pastas, emphasizing simple, flavorful ingredients served in an unpretentious setting.
The hotel’s fitness facilities are extensive, with a full-sized gym divided into three zones: a cardio and cable machine area, a free-weight section with dumbbells, and a dedicated yoga and meditation room. It’s easy to keep up with workouts while staying here.
