New attractions, hotels, events and celebrations are coming across Scotland this year, making 2025 an exceptional time to visit this beautiful country.
Glasgow’s 850thAnniversary
This year Glasgow, a UNESCO City of Music, celebrates its 850th anniversary. A wide program of events and activities will mark the milestone, beginning with the opening night concert at Celtic Connections, which pays tribute to the city’s rich artistic and musical heritage.

New Museum in Renfrewshire
Visit the town where paisley first gained prominence and discover its story at the soon-to-reopen Paisley Museum. Originally opened in the 19th century, the museum has undergone a major transformation and investment and will present refreshed galleries that explore the town’s textile heritage and cultural impact.
New Hotels
Scotland’s hotel scene continues to expand with openings and reimaginings nationwide. The Lost Shore Surf Resort in Edinburgh opened late last year, offering luxury accommodation, a wellness spa and an innovative surf lake aimed at both leisure and surf-focused visitors. Edinburgh has also welcomed The Hoxton, a collection of stylish Georgian townhouses. In St. Andrews, Seaton House is scheduled to debut this February, while The Waterside Hotel in West Kilbride opens its doors this spring. East Kilbride will soon include the historic Crossbasket Castle, and Mar Hall Golf & Spa Resort launches in Renfrewshire this spring. Additional new properties include Pine Trees Hotel in Perthshire, Forest Holidays log cabins in Glentress, and new luxury pod accommodations at Murrayshall Country Estate in Perthshire.

New and Improved The Royal Yacht Britannia
The Royal Yacht Britannia in Edinburgh will unveil a new visitor centre and shop, showcasing previously unseen images and film. The refreshed retail offering will feature Royal and heritage-inspired gifts and curated items that reflect Britannia’s history.
New and Reopening Distilleries
Scotland’s distilling scene keeps evolving with new projects and reopenings. Lerwick Distillery in Shetland, the region’s first whisky distillery, is now operating with full production and single malt releases planned. The team intends to complete the visitor facilities this year and roll out tours and tastings in the near future. Highland Park Distillery in Orkney reopens following significant developments, while Edinburgh Gin Distillery launched this past winter for those who prefer gin. Other notable distillery activity includes recent or upcoming openings and experiences at Eden Mill, Jackton Distillery, the restored Rosebank Distillery and the sustainability-focused visitor experience at Arbikie Distillery.
