The Fives Downtown Hotel & Residences, Curio Collection by Hilton has opened in Playa del Carmen as the first Curio Collection property in Mexico and Hilton’s inaugural hotel in the city. This boutique property features 93 guest rooms, four dining venues and a rooftop infinity pool with ocean views. Located just two blocks from Playa del Carmen beach, the hotel provides easy access to local attractions including Tulum.
Mark Nogal, global head of Curio Collection by Hilton, noted that the opening represents the brand’s debut in Mexico and strengthens Hilton’s presence in the region. With design inspired by local culture and premium amenities, The Fives Downtown was selected to join Curio’s global collection of distinctive independent hotels. The property aims to reflect the colors, people and spirit of Playa del Carmen.
Julian Smaldoni, general manager of The Fives Downtown Hotel & Residences, said the hotel combines upscale accommodations with convenient proximity to the coast. Guests can enjoy both city life and beach access while experiencing the hospitality standards associated with Hilton.
On-site amenities include Purobeach, a rooftop destination featuring an infinity pool, cabanas, massage services, a lounge and a restaurant. The hotel also offers a 24-hour, well-equipped fitness center with personal training and yoga classes, plus approximately 900 square feet of meeting space suitable for up to 120 attendees.
Dining at The Fives Downtown covers a range of tastes. El Tigre is a tequila bar showcasing local beers and more than 100 tequilas and mezcals, supported by an on-site tequila master. Mercatto serves Italian-inspired all-day fare from healthy breakfasts to shareable dinner plates prepared in an open kitchen. Marley’s Coffee provides a selection of specialty beverages and baked goods for casual dining and takeaway.
