Qatar Launches World’s First A350 XWB Commercial Route

Qatar Airways has begun the world’s first route using the Airbus A350 extra-wide-body aircraft, flying between Doha and Frankfurt following delivery of the first of 80 low-noise, next-generation A350 XWB jets to the airline in December 2014. The new jet brings improved operating efficiency, greater passenger comfort and reduced noise levels.

The airline deploys a 283-seat A350 XWB on the route, configured with 36 business class seats, operating daily between Doha’s Hamad International Airport and Frankfurt Airport. The A350’s modern cabin, advanced systems and quieter engines aim to enhance the travel experience while lowering environmental impact and operating costs.

Passengers on the A350 benefit from a spacious cabin layout, higher humidity and lower cabin altitude compared with older aircraft types, contributing to reduced fatigue on long-haul flights. The aircraft’s aerodynamic design and lightweight composite structure improve fuel efficiency, extending range and reducing emissions.

Qatar Airways’ introduction of the A350 on the Doha–Frankfurt route underlines the carrier’s continued fleet modernization and commitment to offering a premium onboard product. Daily service on this route provides frequent schedule options for business and leisure travelers connecting Europe with Qatar’s global network through Hamad International Airport.

The A350 XWB family is designed to deliver a quieter, more comfortable journey while offering airlines operational advantages through improved fuel burn and lower maintenance requirements. By adding this aircraft to its network, Qatar Airways expands its capacity with an emphasis on passenger comfort and environmental performance.
