The release of the James Bond film Spectre (Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures/Columbia Pictures) sparked renewed interest in all things 007. In Jamaica — the birthplace of Ian Fleming, the creator of James Bond — the GoldenEye Resort honors that legacy with a GoldenEye Revisited getaway. Situated in Oracabessa Bay on the island’s north coast, the resort’s original five-bedroom villa, which still houses Fleming’s writing desk, is where he wrote all 14 of his James Bond novels.
The GoldenEye Revisited package includes four nights’ accommodation in a Lagoon Cottage, Beach Villa, or the Fleming Villa, daily breakfast, a guided snorkeling tour of Fleming’s favorite reef, a guided look at local nightlife, a Bond movie night on the beach with a bonfire, and a fishing excursion with a local fisherman in a traditional wooden canoe. If guests catch fish, the resort’s chef will prepare the catch for them.
Visitors also have the chance to meet Ramsey Dacosta, who served as Fleming’s gardener and continues to work at GoldenEye. The program features a private tour of Firefly, the former home of Fleming’s friend, author Noel Coward, followed by an evening of cocktails and canapés. Rates for the themed escape start at $5,310 for travel between January 7 and March 31, 2016.
