The first hotel to open under the Orient Express brand began accepting bookings on December 4, marking the arrival of the brand’s refined hospitality in a standalone hotel setting. Orient Express La Minerva, located on Rome’s historic Piazza della Minerva, occupies the 17th-century Palazzo Fonseca and introduces travelers to an elevated blend of heritage and modern comfort.

Acquired in 2021 by Arsenale SpA, the property underwent a careful restoration led by architect and interior designer Hugo Toro. The result is a sympathetic renovation that preserves the building’s historical character while introducing contemporary luxury. Orient Express La Minerva features 93 elegantly appointed guestrooms, including 36 suites. Four signature suites—the Stendhal Suite, La Minerva Suite, Obelisco Suite and Orient Express Suite—offer distinctive layouts and premium finishes designed for guests seeking the height of comfort and privacy.
Every room is equipped with carefully selected amenities: custom bathroom products, Rivolta Carmignani linens, and a complimentary minibar stocked with soft drinks, coffee and tea. Attention to detail extends throughout the accommodations to ensure a seamless and comfortable stay.

Public spaces reflect the hotel’s connection to Roman culture and refined dining. La Minerva Bar, set beneath the building’s historic skylight and inspired by the Roman goddess Minerva, serves crafted cocktails, Italian snacks and afternoon tea accompanied by freshly made pastries. On the seventh floor, the rooftop restaurant and bar Voliera offers Mediterranean cuisine, signature cocktails and panoramic views that include St. Peter’s Dome, the Altare della Patria and Piazza della Minerva—an ideal setting for both relaxed meals and special evenings.
For events, the hotel houses the Olimpo Ballroom, a stately space adorned with Murano chandeliers and a collection of 12 marble statues by sculptor Rinaldo Rinaldi. Three additional meeting rooms provide flexible options for business gatherings, private celebrations and social events, all supported by attentive service and elegant surroundings.
Orient Express La Minerva is positioned to welcome guests in spring 2025, offering a new flagship experience for travelers seeking cultural immersion, historical ambiance and contemporary luxury in the heart of Rome.
