Marriott Expands in Europe: New Hotels and Growth Plans

Marriott Hotels has expanded its footprint in France with the opening of its first hotel in Lyon. Situated in the heart of the city and about 30 minutes from Lyon Saint-Exupéry Airport, the Lyon Marriott Hotel Cité Internationale offers 204 well-appointed guestrooms and suites. Guests can enjoy an extensive wellness area that includes a solarium with views across the rolling hills of Caluire.

The hotel caters to business travelers with a generous selection of event facilities. There are 16 meeting rooms plus a flexible multipurpose space, all designed to benefit from natural daylight. For dining and socializing, La Brasserie presents an expansive terrace that overlooks Parc de la Tête d’Or, France’s largest urban park, while The Spark bar serves a carefully crafted cocktail menu.

Michel Miserez, area vice president for Western Europe, commented on the opening: “We are proud to announce the launch of the new Lyon Marriott Hotel Cité International. This significant expansion into the international city of Lyon highlights the commercial strength of our network and reflects growing confidence from owners who choose to partner with us.”

The Lyon Marriott Hotel Cité Internationale blends convenient city access with leisure and business amenities, making it well suited for both leisure visitors and corporate groups. With its strategic location near major transport links and cultural attractions, the property aims to be a comfortable and functional base for travelers exploring Lyon or attending meetings and events in the area.

Key features of the hotel include contemporary accommodations, extensive meeting and event options with natural light, a wellness zone with solarium views, and dining venues that connect guests to outdoor spaces like Parc de la Tête d’Or. These elements combine to offer a balanced hospitality experience that supports both relaxation and productivity.
