Russia’s first five-star hotel, Belmond Grand Hotel Europe, has unveiled six new suites: the city’s largest presidential suite and five Avant-Garde Suites inspired by early 20th-century Russian artists. Created by combining 19 first-floor rooms to meet rising demand for expansive suite accommodation, these residences deliver generous space, refined finishes and 24-hour butler service.
Celebrating its 140th anniversary in 2015, the Belmond Grand Hotel Europe remains a St. Petersburg landmark on Nevsky Prospekt. The new contemporary suites, designed by Tihany Design, have been carefully integrated into the hotel’s historic Neo-Baroque interior, providing modern comfort while respecting the building’s classic character.
The presidential suite spans approximately 3,770 square feet and opens into a grand lobby topped by a domed gold-leaf ceiling. It offers views along Nevsky Prospekt and Mikhailovskaya Ulitsa, and features two king-size bedrooms, two marble bathrooms, a private hammam sauna, a dedicated fitness area equipped with a treadmill and cycle machine, a game room and a library. A hidden bookcase passage connects the library to the master bedroom, adding an element of discreet luxury and intrigue.
The five Avant-Garde Suites honour the pioneering Russian artists of the early 1900s. Each suite has high ceilings and an individually tailored interior that reflects the aesthetic of its namesake artist. Specially commissioned artworks and carefully chosen decorative details reinforce the artistic concept, creating immersive spaces that celebrate the period’s innovative spirit while offering contemporary luxury.
Together these suites expand the hotel’s accommodation offerings by combining historic grandeur with contemporary living standards. They are aimed at guests seeking spacious, private environments for extended stays, family visits or high-level entertaining, all supported by the hotel’s signature service and attention to detail.
With these additions, Belmond Grand Hotel Europe strengthens its position as a premier address in St. Petersburg, catering to discerning travellers who value cultural context, bespoke design and comprehensive amenities in the heart of the city.
