Korean Air took delivery of its first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner at a ceremony held at Boeing’s South Carolina assembly facility in late February.
This aircraft is the first of a 10-plane order. Five Dreamliners are slated to join the airline’s fleet this year, with the remaining five scheduled for delivery by 2019.
“The 787 Dreamliner will be a key member of Korean Air’s fleet as we continue to introduce next-generation airplanes to our customers,” said Walter Cho, president of Korean Air. “The aircraft is fuel efficient, quiet, and has lower operating costs. It is spacious and elegant, and the cabin features are impressive—designed to ensure maximum comfort for Korean Air’s passengers.”
This 787-9 will be deployed on long-haul international services, including routes to Toronto (YYZ), Madrid (MAD) and Zurich (ZRH) later this year. The aircraft is configured with 269 seats across three classes.
“Korean Air continues to demonstrate leadership in the global commercial airline industry,” said Rick Anderson, vice president of Northeast Asia sales for Boeing Commercial Airplanes. “We are confident that the 787-9 Dreamliner’s market-leading efficiency and passenger comfort will support their long-term success for many years to come.”
