British Airways is expanding its presence in Poland by launching a new non-stop service between London Heathrow (LHR) and Krakow (KRK). This will be the airline’s second destination in Poland, complementing its existing operations to Warsaw (WAW). The new route will operate four times a week beginning in May 2015, using a mix of Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft configured in a two-class layout. British Airways continues to maintain double-daily flights to the Polish capital, Warsaw.
Neil Cottrell, Head of Planning at British Airways, said the new link reflects the carrier’s long-standing relationship with Poland and provides customers with greater travel options. The route is expected to attract a large number of passengers from the significant Polish community based in London, as well as friends and family visiting between the two cities. In addition to leisure traffic, the service will cater to business travelers since Krakow has become an important economic center with growing U.K. investment and trade ties.
Tourism demand is also anticipated to be strong, with visitors eager to discover Krakow’s historic center, cultural attractions, and vibrant culinary scene. By adding Krakow to its network, British Airways aims to offer both convenient connections and a higher level of choice for travelers flying between the U.K. and southern Poland.
