InterContinental Lisboa Estorial Opens: Luxury Hotel in Portugal

InterContinental Hotels Group has opened its third hotel in Portugal, InterContinental Lisbon – Estoril, joining InterContinental Lisbon and InterContinental Porto – Palacos Das Cardosas.

“Portugal is one of the most attractive tourist destinations in Europe and the signing of this hotel demonstrates the momentum of the iconic luxury brand in key international cities and resorts,” said Robert Shepherd, chief development officer, Europe, IHG. “InterContinental Lisbon – Estoril joins InterContinental Dublin as the latest additions to our European portfolio.”

Situated west of Lisbon in the refined coastal town of Estoril, the new InterContinental Lisbon – Estoril overlooks the Atlantic and caters to both leisure and business travelers. The property offers 59 guestrooms and suites designed for comfort and style, an all-day dining restaurant and bar, flexible meeting and event space, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a well-equipped fitness center, and a full-service spa featuring a sauna and steam room.

Estoril is known for its elegant seaside promenades, historic casino, and proximity to scenic beaches and the town of Cascais, making it a popular base for exploring the Lisbon coast. Positioned in this upscale destination, the hotel aims to appeal to visitors seeking luxury accommodations with easy access to both coastal attractions and the Portuguese capital.

The InterContinental brand emphasizes a blend of local character and international standards of service. Guests at InterContinental Lisbon – Estoril can expect signature amenities alongside regionally inspired touches in dining and design, reflecting Portugal’s cultural and culinary traditions without compromising on contemporary comfort.

Facilities such as the meeting rooms and event spaces are designed to serve small conferences, social gatherings, and private functions, while the wellness areas—pools, fitness center, and spa—provide opportunities for relaxation after a day of sightseeing or business engagements. The hotel’s location and range of services position it to serve both short-stay visitors and longer vacations focused on leisure, wellness, and coastal exploration.

With this opening, IHG continues to expand its luxury footprint in Europe, reinforcing its presence in Portugal’s most visited cities and resort areas. InterContinental Lisbon – Estoril adds to the group’s selection of upscale properties in the country, offering another option for travelers seeking refined accommodations by the Atlantic.
