Hotel Commonwealth Reveals Final Phase of $50M Renovation

Boston’s Hotel Commonwealth has finished the final phase of a $50 million renovation that nearly doubled its guestrooms and expanded its event space. The hotel’s new wing, connected to the original building by an enclosed footbridge, offers rooms that overlook Fenway Park.

The interior design blends contemporary sensibilities with classic patterns such as houndstooth, herringbone and plaid, a concept developed by Group One Partners with dash design of New York.

The addition includes 96 newly built guestrooms furnished with custom pieces, industrial-inspired lighting and modern bathrooms with walk-in showers. Several Fenway-facing rooms provide direct views of the ballpark. Each guestroom is equipped with a Google Nexus tablet acting as a virtual concierge, allowing guests to access hotel services, order room service and arrange appointments from their device.

The Fenway Park suite features original ballpark seats on a walk-out terrace and displays a curated collection of Boston Red Sox memorabilia.

Added event facilities total 6,000 square feet and take advantage of two-story, floor-to-ceiling windows with Fenway Park views. A 3,200-square-foot grand ballroom can accommodate up to 250 guests, and a fully equipped, state-of-the-art boardroom serves executive meetings and private dinners.

Hotel Commonwealth originally opened in 2003 with 149 luxury guestrooms. As the official hotel of the Boston Red Sox, it has earned numerous accolades and benefits from a prime location in Kenmore Square.
