Four Seasons Opens Its First Hotel in Greece: What to Expect

Located on the scenic Athenian Riviera, the Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel Athens is scheduled to open in spring 2018.

Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts and Greek hospitality company Astir Palace Vouliagmeni S.A. have announced a major redevelopment to upgrade the existing Astir Palace and relaunch it as the first Four Seasons property in Greece.

Sitting roughly 16 miles south of central Athens and about 15 miles from Athens International Airport, the hotel occupies a prime stretch of Aegean coastline. The resort sits on a peninsula that will feature upscale retail and dining options, including Matsuhisa Athens by Nobu, Astir Beach—a distinctive seaside concept—and the enhanced Astir Marina.

“Astir Palace has always been a landmark destination of international stature, located in the Athenian Riviera, one of the most coveted areas in Greece,” said Stelios Koutsivitis, CEO of Astir Palace Vouliagmeni S.A. “We are committed to honoring its legacy and elevating Astir Palace into a world-class destination. Our redevelopment plan includes a full renovation of the hotel, a significant upgrade of Astir Marina, improvements to Astir Beach, the development of up to 13 luxury residences, and the creation of Peninsula Park.”

Allen Smith, president and CEO of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, noted, “The hotel’s location delivers a rare blend of seaside calm and convenient access to Athens city center, making it an attractive choice for both leisure and business travelers throughout the year.”

More than €100 million will be invested in refurbishing the property. Planned features include approximately 300 rooms, suites and luxury bungalows; a full-service spa and recreational facilities; modern conference and event venues; infinity pools and beaches; a distinctive beachfront promenade; and additional guest amenities. Interior design concepts by Meyer Davis Studio draw inspiration from the natural surroundings and the region’s cultural heritage.
