Emirates Cuts Economy Baggage Allowance: What Travelers Need to Know

As of February, passengers flying in Emirates’ economy class are subject to updated baggage limits.

Effective Feb. 4, travelers holding special fare or saver fare tickets are allowed checked bags with maximum weights of 33 pounds (15 kilograms) and 55 pounds (25 kilograms), respectively. These adjusted limits reduce the previous allowances by roughly 11 pounds (5 kilograms).

Carry-on allowances remain unchanged: economy passengers may bring a cabin bag weighing up to 15 pounds (7 kilograms) with maximum dimensions of 22 inches by 15 inches by 8 inches.

The revised checked baggage rules apply to most routes but exclude flights to and from the Americas and flights originating in Africa. Business and first class passengers are not affected by these economy-class weight changes. To avoid surprises, passengers should verify their specific allowance with the airline before travel.
