Emirates Begins Daily Flights From Dubai to Yangon and Hanoi

In February, Emirates announced plans to begin daily flights from Dubai (DBX) to Yangon (RGN), Myanmar, and Hanoi (HAN), Vietnam. The service launched in early August and operates with Boeing 777-300ER aircraft in a three-class layout. This expansion brings Emirates’ Southeast Asia network to 12 cities across seven countries.

Myanmar is emerging as a popular destination, drawing increasing numbers of international visitors to its historic sites, natural landscapes, and scenic beaches. Yangon alone welcomed about 1.1 million tourists in 2014—a roughly 25 percent increase compared with the prior year—highlighting strong growth potential for the market.

Hanoi becomes Emirates’ second Vietnamese destination, joining the airline’s existing Ho Chi Minh City route, which began in 2012. The addition of Hanoi offers more travel options for passengers in Vietnam and simplifies connections for international travelers arriving in the country.

Adnan Kazim, divisional senior vice president of strategic planning, revenue optimization and aeropolitical affairs at Emirates, said the new service will strengthen the carrier’s presence in Southeast Asia and provide passengers in Myanmar and Vietnam convenient access to a broad global network. Through Dubai, travelers can connect to 39 cities in Europe, 16 in the Middle East, and numerous destinations across Africa and the Americas.

The launch of Emirates’ first scheduled flights to Myanmar aligns with the country’s Tourism Master Plan, which aims to attract 7.5 million visitors by 2020. For Hanoi, the route improves connectivity to Dubai and Emirates’ worldwide network while also making it easier for overseas Vietnamese and international tourists to reach Vietnam.
