El Al Expands Fleet With New Aircraft Orders and Routes

EL AL, Israel’s national carrier, has announced a significant fleet expansion with the addition of six new Boeing 737-900ER aircraft. As part of a fleet renewal program exceeding $320 million, the airline will take delivery of the first new jet in Israel this month, a second in December, and four more in early 2016.

The incoming aircraft will enable EL AL to expand capacity on short- and medium-haul routes between Israel and numerous European destinations. Each 737-900ER is configured with modern amenities, including mood lighting, 16 business class seats and 156 economy seats, improving comfort and the onboard experience for passengers across EL AL’s network.

With these additions, EL AL reinforces its commitment to updating its fleet and boosting service frequency to existing destinations. The expanded capacity supports the airline’s current network, which serves 35 destinations directly from Israel and extends to many more locations worldwide through partnerships with leading international carriers.

This fleet investment reflects EL AL’s strategy to modernize equipment, enhance passenger comfort and maintain competitive service levels on busy regional routes. The combination of upgraded cabins and increased seat availability will help the airline meet rising demand for travel between Israel and Europe while maintaining reliable connections for business and leisure travelers.
