Arrival/Check-In: Traveling to Seattle in winter and spring means preparing for cool winds and frequent rain. I arrived on a Sunday for a week of meetings and found the Edgewater Hotel, located on Pier 67 along Alaskan Way, easy to spot as the only property sitting directly on Elliott Bay. A short driveway leads to attentive valets and a warm stone fireplace that greets guests on entry. The lobby captures the Pacific Northwest vibe with overstuffed club chairs and antler-inspired floor lamps positioned to take advantage of floor-to-ceiling windows framing the bay. After a few moments enjoying the view, the front desk efficiently completed my check-in.
Guest Quarters: Every room at the Edgewater offers striking views of the bay or downtown Seattle and includes a gas fireplace. My Waterfront Premium room felt especially charming. The mid-sized room was decorated in rich browns, creams and brocade patterns with bold red accents. Full-length windows opened to the bay, allowing the sound of waves to drift in as I slept. Heating relied primarily on the temperature-controlled gas fireplace, which created a cozy atmosphere. Two club chairs faced the hearth and a bear-shaped ottoman provided a comfortable spot to work on emails, while a large executive desk offered ample space for more intensive work. The king bed was topped with a stuffed bear wearing an Edgewater sweater. While there were not many outlets beside the bed, I located several around the room that met my charging needs.
Sliding doors led into a surprisingly contemporary bathroom painted in bold red. An oversized claw-foot bathtub sat prominently to take advantage of the views toward Elliott Bay. The walk-in glass-and-slate shower featured two showerheads and strong water pressure; because it lacked a full door, I took care to avoid splashing water outside the shower area. The vanity showcased a raised bowl sink for a modern touch, and bright lamps around a large mirror provided excellent lighting for grooming.
Services/Amenities: The hotel’s on-site restaurant, Six Seven, is convenient for breakfast, dinner or a working lunch, and hosts live music during happy hour. Located just off the lobby, the dining room uses its floor-to-ceiling windows to deliver panoramic vistas of the bay and the Olympic Mountains.
For fitness, a 24/7 gym is available on the property. When weather permits, a run along Alaskan Way and the waterfront boardwalk is a pleasant alternative and offers fresh air and scenic views.
The Edgewater is an easy walk to Second Avenue for shopping and within a short distance of the iconic Pike Place Market. The downtown business district is only minutes away by rideshare.
