Delta Unveils Exclusive Alessi-Designed Serviceware Collection

In a move to enhance the onboard experience, Delta Air Lines has partnered with acclaimed Italian design house Alessi to introduce a contemporary, stylish and highly functional collection of service products and tableware.

The new serviceware will begin appearing in-flight on April 1. These upgrades are part of Delta’s multibillion-dollar effort to improve the customer experience and follow other enhancements such as new seat designs, integrated seatback entertainment systems with complimentary content, larger overhead bins, onboard WiFi access, complimentary Main Cabin meals, upgraded free Main Cabin snacks, chef-curated meals in Delta One and a seasonal wine program.

“The Alessi for Delta collection is part of our continued investment in delivering a world-class, global culinary experience that will elevate our customers’ inflight dining to new heights,” said Allison Ausband, senior vice president, in-flight service at Delta. “At Delta we know that every aspect and detail of the travel experience matters, and partnering with Alessi allows us to introduce an uncompromising level of elegance and service to the onboard experience.”

The airline will introduce unique Alessi pieces in its premium cabins and will extend the collection to Delta Premium Select in late 2017. This marks the first time Alessi’s designs will be featured in-flight with a major carrier.

The collection includes flatware, crystal glassware, bone china, stainless steel serving pieces, tabletop accessories, salt and pepper shakers and serving trays. The Alessi items draw on popular designs created or inspired by six of the brand’s roster of more than 300 renowned designers, blending aesthetic appeal with practical functionality for dining at altitude.

Following the partnership announcement in November 2015, Delta and Alessi collaborated on design and in-flight testing, gathering feedback from customers and flight attendants. Delta also coordinated with culinary partners to ensure the new pieces integrate seamlessly with menu presentation and overall meal service, enhancing both the visual and functional aspects of inflight dining.

These serviceware upgrades reflect Delta’s broader focus on elevating service details that influence passenger comfort and satisfaction, reinforcing the airline’s commitment to combining thoughtful design with practical improvements across the travel experience.
