Delta Air Lines and American Airlines (including US Airways) ended their interline ticketing and baggage agreement effective Sept. 15. This agreement had allowed carriers to rebook each other’s passengers during irregular operations and to issue tickets that included segments operated by both airlines.
As of Sept. 15, travel booked—particularly through travel agencies—will no longer include itineraries combining Delta and American segments on the same ticket. In addition, checked baggage transfers between the two carriers will no longer be accepted. Any tickets or baggage arrangements issued before Sept. 15 will continue to be honored under the previous agreement.
