Delta Adds Direct Flights to Edinburgh: New Service Details and Schedule

Delta Air Lines has introduced a new seasonal route between Boston (BOS) and Edinburgh (EDI), beginning late last month. The service operates daily during the peak summer months to meet rising demand for transatlantic travel.

Flights are operated with a 163-seat Boeing 757-200ER, offering 16 business-class seats, in-seat entertainment throughout the cabin and onboard WiFi for passengers.

Outbound flights depart Boston at 10:15 p.m. and arrive in Edinburgh at 9:25 a.m. the following day. Return departures from Edinburgh are at 10:55 a.m., touching down in Boston at 1:02 p.m.

In collaboration with partner Virgin Atlantic Airways, Delta is offering up to 25 weekly flights between the United States and Scotland this summer, representing a 25 percent increase in capacity compared with the previous year.

“Boston is our fastest-growing international hub, and a daily service from Edinburgh in addition to our New York-JFK route responds to increased demand for travel to the United States and provides greater choice when it comes to planning trips for business or pleasure,” said Roberto Ioriatti, vice president, trans-Atlantic, Delta Air Lines. “More American tourists visit Scotland than from any other country — over half a million in 2017 — and with more than 2,000 extra seats each week between the United States and Edinburgh, Delta will help increase visitor numbers, contributing to the local economy.”
