Delta Air Lines has expanded its Porsche pick-up service to Los Angeles International Airport, New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, and Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport.
The program offers gate-to-gate transportation for select high-value customers. It began as a trial at Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in 2011 and has since grown to include additional hubs.
In Los Angeles, New York and Minneapolis–Saint Paul, select SkyMiles Diamond Medallion members will be transferred between connecting gates in Porsche Cayenne S hybrid vehicles.
“Delta continues to find new ways to recognize and enhance the travel experience for our most valuable customers,” said Mike Henny, director of customer experience at Delta. “By partnering with Porsche to offer unexpected pick-ups in a premium vehicle, we’ve created a distinctive opportunity to surprise and delight travelers.”
Diamond Medallion members chosen for the service are greeted at the aircraft boarding door by a Delta Elite Services representative. The representative escorts the customer and their baggage to an awaiting vehicle and then to the connecting gate. Selection for the transfer is based on several factors, including flight operations, connection timing, and member status.
This service aims to streamline tight connections and reduce the stress of navigating crowded terminals, while providing a personalized touch for Delta’s most loyal customers.
Delta evaluates each airport and flight situation before offering the service to ensure operational feasibility and to minimize disruption for other passengers. The program’s targeted use helps Delta allocate premium resources efficiently and maintain on-time performance.
