Austrian Airlines Introduces Premium Economy Seats in 2018

Starting next summer, passengers on Austrian Airlines will be able to choose a premium-economy option. The Vienna-based carrier is investing €15 million to install premium-economy cabins across its 12 long-haul aircraft.

Once the refit is finished, the airline will offer 18 premium-economy seats on each of its six Boeing 767-300ERs and at least 24 premium-economy seats on each of its six Boeing 777-300ERs. Austrian will use the same premium-economy seat model currently fitted on Lufthansa aircraft, providing more comfort and space than standard economy.

Installation work is scheduled to begin this winter so that the new cabins will be ready for passengers by next summer. The upgrade is part of the carrier’s broader effort to enhance long-haul comfort and offer more cabin choices for travelers.
