The Langham, Sydney will reopen next month after a $30 million renovation that reimagines the landmark hotel as one of the city’s premier harborside addresses. The property closed in July to work with international design firm GA Design and luxury refurbishment specialists ICMG to update its public spaces, guest rooms and service offerings.
“GA’s vision, together with The Langham’s global brand strengths, is designed to introduce a fresh chapter in Australian luxury hospitality that will elevate expectations across the market,” said Sonia Lefevre, general manager of The Langham, Sydney.
Scheduled to welcome guests again on Dec. 2, the hotel will feature redesigned interiors and a range of upgraded amenities. New highlights include curated art installations by Sotheby’s, a refined afternoon tea experience presented with Wedgwood, and a contemporary fine-dining concept at Kent Street Kitchen. The makeover also introduces an exclusive new day spa, five newly created event spaces, and expanded lead-in guestrooms—the largest of their kind in Sydney—many of which include The Langham’s signature terraces and balconies.
The renovation focuses on blending international design sensibilities with eclectic furnishings to create spaces that feel both sophisticated and welcoming. Public areas and guest rooms have been rethought to offer improved flow, modern comfort and elevated finishes while preserving the hotel’s landmark character on the waterfront.
In addition to aesthetic and spatial upgrades, the hotel’s refreshed offerings emphasize curated experiences and local partnerships. The collaboration with Sotheby’s brings a distinctive art program to the property, while the Wedgwood partnership enhances the signature afternoon tea service with fine china and a classic presentation. Kent Street Kitchen introduces an immersive dining concept aimed at showcasing contemporary cuisine in an intimate setting tailored for both residents and visitors.
The new event spaces are designed to accommodate a range of gatherings, from intimate meetings to larger social celebrations, with modern audiovisual capabilities and flexible layouts. The upgraded spa will provide a secluded wellness retreat with specialized treatments and elevated amenities for relaxation and rejuvenation.
With its reopening, The Langham, Sydney aims to reaffirm its position among the city’s luxury hotels by combining thoughtful design, curated experiences and upgraded facilities. The renovation seeks to appeal to both international travelers and local guests looking for a refined harbor-side destination in the heart of Sydney.
