InterContinental Hotels Expansion Plans: New Locations & Investment Trends

InterContinental Hotels Group is expanding its footprint in Europe with the addition of two new properties: InterContinental Dublin, which opened in 2015, and InterContinental Baku, scheduled to open in 2016. Housed in the former Four Seasons Hotel Dublin, InterContinental Dublin sits in the prestigious Ballsbridge neighborhood and offers 197 guestrooms and suites. The hotel features an indoor swimming pool, a full-service spa, a fitness center, two restaurants and two bars. For events and conferences, the property provides two ballrooms with a combined event space of more than 15,000 square feet.

InterContinental Baku will be located in the heart of Baku’s shopping district, close to the popular seaside promenade, Baku Boulevard. The new property will introduce 105 guestrooms and suites to the city, strengthening IHG’s presence in the Azerbaijani capital.

“We are delighted to have signed two flagship InterContinental hotels in important markets; both properties will be outstanding additions to our portfolio,” said Robert Shepherd, chief development officer, InterContinental Hotels Group, Europe. “InterContinental Hotels & Resorts continues to be relevant to owners and guests as it expands across Europe, further cementing its position as the largest luxury global hotel brand.”

Globally, IHG’s InterContinental Hotels & Resorts portfolio comprises 178 properties, with an additional 53 hotels currently in the development pipeline, reflecting the brand’s ongoing growth and investment in key global markets.
