Scandinavian Airlines has reopened its renovated lounge in Terminal B at Newark Liberty International Airport. The refreshed space expands the previous lounge by 100 square meters and blends modern comforts with subtle Scandinavian design.
The updated lounge now offers an enhanced food and beverage area featuring both hot and cold dishes, a dedicated private workspace for focused tasks, increased power outlets throughout, complimentary Wi‑Fi and on-site reservation assistance. These additions aim to improve the pre-flight experience for business and leisure travelers alike.
According to Max Knagge, General Manager, Americas at SAS, the expanded facility allows the airline to welcome more customers in New York. “We are pleased to be able to welcome more travellers to our new lounge in New York, where we fly directly to and from Stockholm, Copenhagen and Oslo. We have in recent years launched several new destinations between Scandinavia and the United States, and next up is Miami from Stockholm, which opens in October,” he said.
The lounge redesign focuses on creating a calming environment with clean lines, natural materials and practical amenities. Seating areas are arranged to accommodate solo work and small groups, while lighting and acoustics have been optimized for a quieter, more restful atmosphere. Power and USB outlets are widely available to keep devices charged, and the complimentary Wi‑Fi supports streaming, work and communication needs.
Food service has been upgraded to offer a broader selection of freshly prepared options. Guests can choose from hot entrees, cold salads and light snacks throughout service hours. Beverage offerings include coffee, tea and a curated selection of soft drinks. Staff are on hand to assist with ticket and reservation inquiries, making it easier for passengers to manage connections or make changes before boarding.
SAS operates transatlantic routes connecting Scandinavia with multiple U.S. gateways, including Washington Dulles (IAD), Chicago O’Hare (ORD), Miami (MIA), Boston Logan (BOS), San Francisco (SFO) and Los Angeles (LAX). The expanded Newark lounge strengthens the airline’s presence in the New York area and provides improved support for customers traveling to and from these destinations.
The renovation reflects SAS’s broader focus on enhancing customer experience at key hubs by combining functional facilities with a distinctly Scandinavian aesthetic. Travelers using the Terminal B lounge can expect a cleaner, more welcoming environment designed to streamline pre-flight routines and offer a comfortable place to relax or work before departure.
