Alitalia Unveils Stylish New Uniforms for Flight and Ground Crew

Alitalia unveiled new uniforms for its ground and in-flight crew, designed by Italian fashion designer Alberta Ferretti.

The debut took place during Milan Men’s Fashion Week. Both male and female uniforms are crafted from a seasonless, lightweight fine-gauge blue wool. Design details include satin gold buttons engraved with the letter “A,” creating a refined, unified look for the airline’s staff.

Women’s jackets feature a waist-accentuating gros-grain ribbon that subtly references the green, white and red of the Italian flag. Accessories for the new collection include leather gloves and silk twill foulards and ties, chosen to combine elegance with practical wearability.

Fabio Maria Lazzerini, Alitalia’s chief commercial officer, said the partnership with Alberta Ferretti “brings prestige to Alitalia.” He emphasized that the new uniforms reflect the work of thousands of colleagues who ensure passengers enjoy a high-quality travel experience every day.

Lazzerini added that comfort and well-being were priorities in the design process, noting the importance of garments that support staff through demanding daily tasks while maintaining a polished appearance.

The announcement comes amid a challenging period for the carrier. Alitalia entered insolvency proceedings last year, and the Italian government is currently pursuing options to sell the airline. Despite the uncertain corporate outlook, the new uniform collection aims to reinforce a sense of identity and pride among employees while presenting a refreshed image to passengers.

By commissioning an established Italian designer and emphasizing quality fabrics, thoughtful detailing and practical accessories, Alitalia aims to balance style with functionality—delivering uniforms that honor national heritage and support the operational needs of crew and ground staff alike.
