Phew — 2023 is off to a busy start! How are we already wrapping up our May issue, with flowers blooming, birds chirping and the sun pouring through my office window? The Global Traveler team has been on the move during the first quarter, with a large portion of our trips being business travel. While business travel returned more slowly than leisure travel, it is now back in full force and shows no sign of slowing. Is your corporate travel calendar as packed as your leisure plans this year?

We’ve just wrapped our first event of the year, celebrating the winners of the Wherever Awards, our reader-voted honors from sister site whereverfamily.com. There’s something special about Washington, D.C., in spring, even though we missed the peak cherry blossom bloom this year. We returned to the centrally located Kimpton Hotel Monaco Washington DC for the celebration. The hotel and its nearby sister property, the Kimpton George Hotel are both excellent choices for family, business and leisure stays in the capital.
On the leisure side, a recent trip to South Florida to tour The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection’s Evrima — pictured this month — had me daydreaming about vacations just in time for next month’s Leisure Travel Issue. Be sure to look for it: we’ll announce the Leisure Lifestyle Awards winners.
This month’s issue also takes you on a variety of journeys: discover the world’s best walks; get an inside look at private jet travel; and explore destinations including Taipei, Berlin, the Great Pyramids, Athens, Patagonia, the Maldives, Costa Rica, Seoul, Tampa and Halifax. Wishing you safe and joyful travels!
