W Hotels Opens First Property in Hungary: Budapest Debut and Details

W Hotels Worldwide, now part of Marriott International, will arrive in Hungary with the opening of W Budapest, a distinctive hotel that will reimagine the historic Drechsler Palace.

Scheduled to open in 2020, W Budapest will introduce contemporary design, elevated service and curated luxury experiences to Hungary’s vibrant capital.

Conveniently located on Andrássy Avenue, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and directly opposite the State Opera House, the hotel offers guests easy access to Budapest’s premier shopping, dining and cultural destinations.

“W Hotel’s bold and vibrant interpretation of luxury continues to expand into some of the most compelling destinations in Eastern and Central Europe,” said Carlton Ervin, chief development officer, Europe, Marriott International. “The signing of this landmark hotel in Budapest reflects rising demand from luxury travelers and underscores our commitment to grow our portfolio in the region.”

The renovation of the Drechsler Palace will preserve the building’s historic character while transforming its interiors to feature 162 guestrooms and suites, including a luxurious Presidential Suite. The hotel will include a signature restaurant and bar as well as the W Living Room, the brand’s modern take on the traditional hotel lobby. Additional amenities will include flexible meeting and event spaces, a state-of-the-art spa, a fitness center and an indoor pool.

W Budapest follows recent openings from the brand in major European cities such as Istanbul, Barcelona, St. Petersburg, London, Paris and Amsterdam. With a global portfolio that already includes around 50 properties, W Hotels aims to continue its pace of expansion across key urban destinations.
