Contemporary Art Exhibit at The Peninsula New York – What to See and When

The Peninsula New York has unveiled a new art exhibition titled “Home,” a curated show exploring themes of home, identity and community. The exhibition brings together works by prominent contemporary artists, including Do Ho Suh, Catherine Opie and Angel Otero, among others.

Among the standout installations are two large-scale architectural works by Do Ho Suh. In the hotel’s Palm Court, visitors encounter “Wielandstr. 18, 12159 Berlin – 3 Corridors,” a fabric reconstruction that evokes the artist’s former Berlin apartment with intricate, textile-based detail. In the Gotham Lounge, Suh’s “Cause & Effect” fills the room: hundreds of suspended acrylic figures assemble into a dramatic cone-shaped chandelier that descends from the ceiling nearly to the floor.

Catherine Opie’s photography is on view in the upper lobby, where intimate portraits of colleagues and friends reflect her ongoing interest in identity and social networks. Nearby, Angel Otero contributes inventive paintings that draw on memories of his childhood in Puerto Rico, blending texture and color to create richly layered works. Ashley Bickerton’s piece “The Edge of Things” greets guests in the hotel entrance, setting a contemplative tone as visitors arrive.

The Peninsula New York is also staging a series of related art events. As the official hotel sponsor of Frieze New York, the hotel will host a variety of programs through November, including cocktail receptions and collectors’ dinners designed to complement the exhibition and engage both guests and collectors.

“Home” positions The Peninsula New York as a cultural destination in Midtown Manhattan, offering guests and local visitors the opportunity to encounter contemporary art within a luxury hospitality setting. The exhibition’s mix of immersive installations, portraiture and experimental painting invites reflection on memory, place and belonging while providing multiple points of engagement across the hotel’s public spaces.

Visitors interested in viewing the exhibition should check with The Peninsula New York for current hours and any special event schedules. The hotel’s programming around Frieze New York promises additional occasions to experience the art on display, meet fellow collectors and participate in exclusive gatherings tied to the show.
