Finnair Launches Direct Flights Between Helsinki and Miami

Finnair will expand its North American network by introducing seasonal service between Helsinki (HEL) and Miami (MIA) next winter. According to Pekka Vauramo, CEO of Finnair, “Finns love Miami and southern Florida, and there is a sizeable Finnish expatriate community in the region. At the same time, this new direct route also gives us the opportunity to develop Finland and Lapland as exotic winter tourism destinations for Americans.”

The seasonal route will operate using an Airbus A340 in a two-class configuration between December 16 and March 21, 2015. Departures from Helsinki are scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9:55 a.m., arriving in Miami at 2:05 p.m. Return flights from Miami are planned for 4:00 p.m., with arrivals in Helsinki at 8:50 a.m. Starting January 3, 2015, the service will increase to three weekly flights, with an additional frequency on Saturdays.

This Miami service will be integrated into Finnair’s trans-Atlantic arrangements with oneworld partner carriers American Airlines, Iberia and British Airways, enabling connections and cooperative scheduling across the alliance.
