Jumeirah Carlton Tower: Luxury Hotel Guide in London

Arrival/Check-In: After a long flight from Heathrow, we were warmly welcomed by the staff at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower. The hotel’s central Knightsbridge location put us within easy reach of London’s top sights and shopping. My daughter was especially excited to be close to the famous stores along Sloane Street and the surrounding area.

Guest Quarters: We stayed in an adjoining suite and a single room. The suite’s entry hallway opened into a spacious bedroom with a king-sized bed flanked by nightstands. Two large windows looked out over Sloane Street, giving us a view of the fashionable storefronts and the occasional rev of a passing sports car. Between the windows was a substantial vanity/credenza holding the coffeemaker, complimentary bottled water and drawers for clothing, with a large flat-screen television mounted above. Opposite the bed, a comfortable sofa and substantial coffee table created a pleasant spot for morning coffee or an evening glass of Champagne. Near the hallway and the door to the adjoining room, a desk served as my workstation between sightseeing outings. A small table beneath the left window offered a convenient place for dining in the room.

The bathroom was tucked away and included a sizeable closet with a safe just outside the bathroom door. The bathroom was practical rather than spacious and did not have a separate shower stall, which felt in keeping with the hotel’s classic character. Amenities from REN were provided, and housekeeping refreshed towels and toiletries frequently, which we appreciated.

The adjoining guestroom was comfortable and quiet; my daughter found it difficult to get out of bed for our morning departures, a clear sign she slept well.

Services and Amenities: The hotel team was consistently gracious and attentive. We dined at the renowned Rib Room on several occasions — enjoying dinner with friends we had met on a previous voyage — and also stopped by for cocktails and breakfast. The Rib Room’s staff made each visit welcoming, and the morning team in particular added a friendly touch throughout our stay. My wife enjoyed both in-room breakfast and a light continental breakfast served in the Chinoiserie lounge adjacent to the main lobby.

The Peak Health Club & Spa, conveniently located on-site, is well regarded, though our packed sightseeing schedule left little time to take full advantage. Instead, I set out each morning for a three-mile walk in different directions to explore the neighborhood and revisit parts of the city that held personal memories, including past office locations.

The Experience: A hotel’s character depends as much on its people as on its physical features. The staff at the Carlton Tower genuinely enjoy welcoming guests, and that dedication elevates the stay. The location is hard to beat: walking distance to many attractions, with quick access to cabs and the Tube for longer journeys. Nearby restaurants are plentiful, and the concierge was ready to arrange reservations or recommendations as needed.
